Description
This book attempts to explain the science of what is past our galaxy. It starts by explaining scales, then discusses a few tools and principles used in observation, then dives into what is within our own galaxy. By page 86 the author gets outside our galaxy. from page 112 through page 142 the author covers a variety of topics, then from page 148 through 166 he discusses the nature of the universe itself. The last section of the book deals with the possibility of life elsewhere than the earth. This part of the book is perhaps the most interesting as it devotes 30 pages to different topics such as whether life needs to end, the two written messages sent physically out of our solar system by two deep space probes, and a short section on our attempts to listen for extraterrestrial life. - from a reviewer on LibraryThing
